Why do we get acne?

Acne, commonly known as pimples, is primarily caused by the excessive buildup of dead skin cells and sebum. Overproduction of oil combined with clogged pores due to trapped keratin leads to bacterial growth, resulting in redness, swelling, and eventually the formation of pimples. If there's no redness or swelling, it may develop into closed comedones-commonly referred to as whiteheads.

Acne formation is closely related to factors such as hormonal secretion, external stimuli, excessive psychological stress, and unhealthy lifestyle habits.

Acne lesions can manifest in various forms, including comedones, papules, pustules, nodules, and cysts. Although most acne is self-limiting, the aftermath can persist for life, such as acne scars resulting from acne.

Clean thoroughly!

When cleansing acne-prone skin, avoid using alkaline soap-based products as much as possible, as they can irritate the skin. Instead, opt for gentle, mildly acidic cleansers.

Unclog pores and remove sebum buildup

Acne-prone skin benefits from regular exfoliation to control oil production and tighten pores, helping maintain a clear complexion. One key factor in acne development is excessive keratinization of hair follicles. For over-keratinized follicles, it's important to regularly remove dead skin cells from both the surface and within the follicles to unclog them. To dissolve and expel blockages in the follicles, we typically use acidic products that penetrate and break down the accumulated keratin.

Alpha hydroxy acids are highly effective in removing dead skin cells, helping the skin become smoother and more refined. They also help prevent acne and are among the best for fading acne scars. At the same time, they stimulate the production and alignment of of collagen and elastin fibers, increase skin hydration, and reduce fine lines.

Anti-inflammatory and antibacterial treatment for acne

Inflammatory responses are present throughout the entire course of acne, including the microcomedo stage, the formation of inflammatory lesions, and later stages such as post-inflammatory erythema, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, or scarring.

Anti-inflammatory treatment primarily relies on oral and topical medications, but it is essential to follow medical advice.

Skin Post-Treatment Repair

After inflammation subsides and during the later stages of skin lesion healing, some degree of pigmentation and redness may occur; in more severe cases, the skin barrier may be compromised. These conditions require further repair to prevent acne recurrence.

At this stage, we can use products that help fade pigmentation to accelerate the melanin metabolism cycle. In addition to inhibiting pigmentation, two key aspects are repairing the skin barrier and providing antioxidant sun protection.

hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid has exceptional water-retaining properties and is currently recognized as the most effective natural moisturizing substance, earning it the title of an ideal natural humectant. Naturally present within the elastic network formed by elastin and collagen fibers in the dermis, sufficient hyaluronic acid can stabilize this network, enhancing skin elasticity. It also possesses superior hydration capabilities-by capturing moisture from the air, it forms a hydrated protective film on the skin's surface, effectively locking in moisture. Moreover, because hyaluronic acid can absorb up to 500 times its own weight in water, once it penetrates into the dermis and absorbs moisture, it swells naturally, increasing the skin's water capacity and enabling it to retain more moisture. This contributes to anti-aging effects and accelerates the skin's self-repair process.
