Reduced Glutathione Cosmetic Powder

Reduced Glutathione Cosmetic Powder has two main production methods:

1. Fermentation method - This is currently the most common approach. Specific yeasts (such as brewer's yeast) or bacteria are cultivated in fermentation tanks, allowing them to "release" glutathione on their own, and then the product is separated and purified to obtain a high-purity product. The advantages are high yield, relatively low cost, and it is in the natural configuration (L-form).

2. Chemical synthesis method - Glutathione molecules are constructed step by step using chemical reagents. This method can be precisely controlled, but it is costly and may contain a small amount of D-form isomers. Therefore, it is less used in food and cosmetics.

In terms of composition, glutathione itself is a small molecule peptide composed of three amino acids (glutamic acid, cysteine, and glycine). There is a very important sulfhydryl group (-SH) in its molecular structure, which is the key to its antioxidant function. Additionally, in commercial products, apart from the glutathione itself, sometimes vitamin C, citric acid, maltodextrin, etc. are added as stabilizers or enhancers.

Its stability is not particularly high. It is easily damaged by light, heat and oxygen. Therefore, the commercially available glutathione products are usually packaged in a light-protective container, and may also be made into enteric-coated capsules or microcapsules to prevent them from being decomposed in the stomach acid.

Here's another little fact - glutathione exists in two forms: reduced form (GSH) and oxidized form (GSSG). The form we commonly refer to, which is used for health care and skin whitening, is the reduced form because it is more active
